What Makes This Program Different

The Forever-Home Readiness Program was created to support dogs and families during moments of transition with care. It is a trainer-led rehoming program designed for dogs who are ready for a new home and deserve the best possible chance at long-term success. Dogs in this program live with me in my home, preventing unnecessary shelter intake, receive individualized care, ongoing professional training, and are thoughtfully matched with adopters who are prepared to continue their journey.

This program is designed to help dogs confidently step into their forever homes.

  • Dogs enter the Forever-Home Readiness Program through owner referral or trusted partners. While in my care, they receive:

    • Attentive, in-home care

    • Daily Structure and Exercise

    • Foundational Obedience and Life Skills

    • Confidence-building

    • Exposure to Real-world Environments and Socialization

There is no fixed end date. Each dog remains in the program until the right home is found.

  • Ready to adopt? Here’s how:

    • Review the dog profile (skills, needs, personality)

    • Contact us for an initial conversation

    • Application & screening to ensure a good fit (home visit if local)

    • Meet-and-greet (in-person or virtually)

    • Adoption agreement & fee

    • Follow-up support

  • Surrendering a dog is a difficult, emotional decision, but the Forever-Home Readiness Program exists to provide pet parents with support when they feel that giving up their pet is their only option.

    How it works:

    • Contact us for an initial conversation

    • Submit information. A short history of vet records and behaviour notes. This helps us understand your dogs needs.

    • Meet & evaluate. Schedule a visit for us to meet your dog and confirm they’re a match for the program.

    • Transition to care. If accepted, we’ll coordinate to plan a smooth transition.

    • Stay connected (optional). Many owners appreciate updates on their dog’s progress and placement. We’re happy to share when appropriate.

    Important Note:

    • Capacity limits. Our program allows for one dog at a time to ensure quality care. If we’re full, we’ll help connect you with trusted alternatives.

  • The Forever-Home Readiness Program is a privately run and fully funded through program fees and community support.

Fees help cover the daily care, professional training, food, supplies, and time required to prepare each dog for a forever home. Dogs live with me full-time and receive individualized attention and daily dare.

    Surrender (intake) fee:

A surrender fee may apply to help offset initial care and setup costs, including food, equipment, cleaning supplies, and training time. Each situation is evaluated individually and handled with care and discretion.

    Adoption fee:

An adoption fee applies to approved placements. This reflects the training, preparation, and support invested in each dog before adoption, as well as continued guidance during the transition period.

Fees are discussed transparently before any decisions are made regarding a surrender or adoption.

Some people adopt. Others cheer from the sidelines. Both matter!

The Forever-Home Readiness Program exists to give dogs the time, training, and care they need to succeed in their next home. Because this is a small, trainer-run program, community support helps cover the real, everyday costs of care, especially in northern Canada.

Donations are optional and always appreciated.

What your support helps provide:

  • Quality raw food and supplements

  • Training tools and enrichment

  • Winter gear for safe outdoor activity

  • Cleaning and sanitation supplies

  • Daily care and professional training time

Every contribution goes directly toward the dog currently in the program.

Thank you for being a part of their journey!

At this time, our online donation processing is being finalized.

We are still able to accept donations via email, which will allow us to continue supporting our foster dog Maya with food, supplies, and care.

Thank you for supporting Forever-Home Readiness Program during this setup phase.

  • We exist to support dogs and families during moments of transition.

Through professional training, in-home care, and thoughtful placement, the program helps dogs remain out of the shelter system while preparing them for long-term success in a stable home.

By working with one dog at a time, the program prioritizes quality of care, honest assessment, and meaningful support, for both dogs and the people who love them.

  • At the heart of the Forever-Home Readiness Program are a few simple, guiding values that shape every decision made for the dogs and families we support.

    Compassion without judgement

Dogs and people come to this program during moments of transition. We believe every situation deserves understanding, respect, and care, without shame.

    Quality over quantity

By working with one dog at a time, the program prioritizes individualized care, honest assessment, and thoughtful preparation rather than rushing outcomes.

    Transparency and integrity

Clear communication, realistic expectations, and ethical placement are central to the process. What a dog needs, what they’re ready for, and what a home can offer are always discussed openly.

    Training as foundation for stability

Structure, guidance, and skill-building create confident, resilient dogs. Training is not about perfection, but about giving dogs the tools they need to succeed long-term in a home environment, and the resilience to overcome anything life throws at them.

    Lifelong impact through thoughtful placement

A successful placement isn’t just about adoption, it’s about creating a lasting match where both the dog and their people can thrive together.

  • The Forever-Home Readiness Program exists because of one dog—✨Maya✨

When Maya’s family came to me with their concerns, I didn’t see a “problem dog.” I saw a family trying to do right by the dog they loved, and a dog who needed support, structure, and time. I knew in my heart that I had to help in some way.

At the same time, the shelters are constantly overflowing. I kept thinking about how many dogs end up there simply because families don’t have access to transitional support. I realized that even helping one dog at a time, keeping them out of the shelter and in a home, still matters. It still changes a life.

This program is deeply personal to me. My very first dog came from a shelter, and that adoption changed everything. I continue to work closely with the shelters volunteering my time training the dogs there proving them with enrichment and quality one on one time.

The Forever-Home Readiness Program brings all of that together.

It allows me to offer dogs a safe, structured, in-home transition while supporting the people who love them. Dogs live with me, receive training and guidance, and are prepared for their next chapter, whether that’s reunification or a new forever home.

None of this would exist without Maya, and none of it would be possible without the belief that dogs and their people deserve support, without judgement.
